Our dedicated team has been busy all year turning the exciting new development of houses for sale in Greystones into high-quality homes, but you can keep just as busy in the perfect location too. With a nod to the very informative and entertaining Greystones Guide, we take a quick look at just some of the activities, sports clubs, facilities and amenities for all ages that make this a great community in which to start the next phase of your life.
Mum & Dad
The leisurely activity of golf is just perfect for Greystones, and a short distance from the beautiful new houses for sale at SeaGreen are a couple of excellent courses. Situated in a beautiful and scenic area, what better way to spend your time in Greystones than by ‘ruining a good walk’ with 9 or 18 holes on one of the local golf courses?
Dubbed ‘Wicklow’s friendliest golf club’, Delgany Golf Club overlooks the town of Greystones and has as its backdrop the Sugarloaf Mountains. It has a proud Ryder cup heritage, a family-friendly vibe, and is one of Ireland’s oldest member-owned clubs. It also has a great membership offer up to the end of next year. You can find out more about the club here.
Charlesland Golf Club (pictured) is right by the south beach in Greystones and also brings a proud heritage with its 7,000 metres of prime land. Refurbished facilities and a beautifully designed course make Charlesland a big favourite amongst locals, and the flexible membership fees don’t hurt either. Also availing of its beachside proximity, the club has the luxurious SoBe healthy living hub that offers a café and fitness studios, and so much more.
Not to mention, of course, the nearby Druid’s Glen Golf Club, one of the top five parkland courses in Ireland and multiple-time host of the Irish Open and illustrious Seve trophy, the ‘little gem’ that is Kilcoole Golf Club, and the many other fine courses across the county.
The women’s rugby team has been in the spotlight lately with an interest in the sport on the rise for some time thanks to the success of Leinster and the national team in general. Rugby has always been a popular pursuit for people of all ages in Greystones thanks to Greystones Rugby Club, based at Dr Hickey Park. There’s always room to join up to become part of a team, or simply to enjoy being a member of a proud club that has produced, at last count, nine Irish internationals.
If all that talk of sport has made you hungry, there are thankfully a lot of choices when it comes to refuelling, with Greystones a real foodie delight. Try out The Burnaby on Church Street, where you can get great pub grub and a pint in one of the more relaxed places in town.
Fitness buffs, or those who just want to stay healthy enough to enjoy the great outdoors in the garden of Ireland, will enjoy Go Gym, where classes range from yoga and pilates to weights and bootcamps to Zumba and spin to boxing.
Open early and late every day except Sunday, when the hours are still pretty good, it’s a great place to get fit, have fun and make new friends in this homely yet thriving town.
For women who want to look their best, Zero One Salon is a favourite haunt (and top-rated for hair extensions we are told), with a personalised approach to each customer and some lovely little surprise extras thrown in making it a great place to go for your hair and beauty needs.
Another great place to eat in Greystones is The Happy Pear, dubbed by locals as ‘the happiest place on Earth’ and a café/restaurant that sees many followers flock from surrounding areas to dine on the healthy and great-tasting food. The family-run establishment started off as a fruit & veg store before branching out to become an organic food eatery, and popularity soon grew into a range of books, classes and YouTube shows.
The Children
There are so many sporting pursuits to choose from that children will find they are spoilt for choice in Greystones, but one thing this seaside location can offer that other towns can’t is the Greystones Rowing and Kayak Club. This is a fun and unique way to stay healthy, make friends and appreciate the shoreside, all while sitting down!
For those who prefer their fun indoors there is Zoom Adventure Play, or Zap for short, an indoor play and activity entre that has enough fun to keep children of all ages entertained. Tunnels, slides, obstacle courses and ball cannons across four floors, as well as a toddler area mean the children will be able to spend hours on end playing and making friends, while Mum and Dad sit back and relax in the spacious seating area and munch on the tasty treats made in-house.
Not forgetting great places for children to enjoy a tasty snack, the fantastic gluten and guilt free frozen yoghurt outlet Mooch has opened in Greystones, meaning children can get a healthy and delicious treat from as early as 7.30am – perfect if you are planning a full day out and about or if you want to fortify the kids before they head off to school.
We are only touching the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the number of great activities and fun things to do around Greystones, and all of these can be right on your doorstep if you choose to buy one of the beautiful, high-spec, energy-efficient houses for sale at SeaGreen.
